Family Day: Welcome Home
WORKSHOPS
Saturday 10 October 2026
Celebrate a new chapter at William Morris Gallery with a special Family Day marking the redisplay of our permanent collection, and the launch of the new exhibition Earthly Paradise.
Working with artist Lucy Rainbow, families will design their own front doors inspired by ideas of welcome, belonging and new beginnings. As we celebrate reopening the Gallery’s doors, children and their grown-ups can imagine how they would welcome friends, neighbours and loved ones into their own homes. Once their designs are complete, families will create a colourful screenprinted souvenir poster to take home, marking this special moment in the Gallery’s history.
As part of the day, families can be among the first to try our brand-new permanent collection family trail, packed with opportunities to discover fascinating objects, stories and ideas throughout the newly redisplayed galleries. Visitors can also pick up a family activity booklet for Earthly Paradise, full of creative prompts and activities to help explore the exhibition together.
Sessions will take place in the Learning Rooms on the second floor, with step-free access available via lift.
A quiet breakout space will be available throughout the day for anyone who would benefit from taking some time away from the activity. Sensory satchels can also be borrowed to support a comfortable and enjoyable visit.
